Real-time salary benchmarks, not last year's survey
Gate benchmarks your compensation against current salary market data, based on anonymized data from the Gate network and trusted third-party sources. The data is continuously refreshed, so you can see where your pay stands without waiting for the next annual salary survey.

The staleness problem
By the time the survey ships, the market has moved.
Traditional compensation surveys run once a year. You fill out a spreadsheet in spring, get results in fall, and by then hiring has already priced ahead of your pay bands. Gate refreshes salary benchmarks continuously, not annually.

The extra tool problem
One less system to feed, log into, and reconcile
Most salary benchmarking tools mean exporting your data into yet another platform, mapping your roles to theirs, and hoping the mapping still holds next quarter. With Gate, your compensation data is already part of the same workflow, whether it comes from your HRIS or a CSV upload. No separate benchmarking tool to maintain.

How we turn raw market data into pay ranges you can trust
Every salary benchmark starts with anonymized market data from the Gate customer network and trusted third-party sources. Before it becomes a number you can act on, the data goes through the same repeatable process.

01
Normalize
Every source is standardized into a consistent format, so salary data can be compared across providers.
02
Map to job architecture
Each role is mapped to a consistent job family and level: 15 job families, two career tracks, from Junior to C-level.
03
Group and validate
Roles are grouped into comparable peer sets, and outliers are flagged before they can skew the benchmark.
04
Calculate market percentiles
P25, P50, and P75 are calculated from each validated peer group. These percentiles power the salary benchmarks and pay ranges you see in Gate.

Before you ask
No. Your company's pay data is not visible to other Gate customers. Gate uses anonymized data across its customer network to build market benchmarks, without exposing individual companies' compensation data.
Gate continuously refreshes salary benchmarks as new market data becomes available, rather than relying on a survey conducted once a year. This means the market percentiles and pay ranges you see reflect the latest data available to Gate.
No. Gate gives you current salary benchmarks and market percentiles for specific roles, levels, and locations. It gives your team a consistent data point for compensation decisions, while recruiters and compensation consultants can still provide context that market data alone can't.
Salary Market shows you where your pay sits against the external market. Pay Transparency looks inside your organization for pay gaps, pay-band risks, and inconsistencies. The two work together: Salary Market provides the market data that helps Gate assess and explain your pay bands.
